The Department has well equipped laboratories with state-of-the art machines. It has 4 Xeon Servers accessible from all the computers of the Institute through the existing 100/1000 Mbps Network connectivity.The Department also has an internet connectivity of 2 Mbps least data circuit provided by NIC(Shillong). At Present, the department has four well equipped Laboratories that are sufficient enough to enable us to produce well trained man power that can provide solution to this modern InformationTechnology era. Our labs consist of :
- General Computing & Multimedia Laboratory
The Computing Laboratory is well equipped with sophisticated present day computers. The students get exposure to various types of programming languages and application software such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, PHP, ASP, Java, latest word processing software, simulation software as well as basic multimedia software. Basic Computer training for the students of other Departments of Shillong Polytechnic is also given here.
- E-learning Classroom Cum IT Laboratory
This laboratory is well equipped with the latest equipments such as Hyper Threading machines, LCD projector, Smart interactive board, TFT monitors, remote control software, simulation and E-learning software.
- Microprocessor & Digital Laboratory
Training in various types of Microprocessors and Digital is imparted in this laboratory. This laboratory is fully equipped with different types of Microprocessor and Microcontroller Kits and hardware related equipment. It also has the facility for training in Digital Electronics that is the basis of every Computer.
- System & Networking Laboratory
The Hardware Laboratory is well equipped with different computer components like CPUs, motherboards, hard disks, and peripherals like monitors, printers, keyboards, mouse and other related tool kits for students to have practical exposure for courses like PC maintenance and Computer Troubleshooting. The Networking laboratory is well equipped with computers and modern networking equipments that enable the students to perform various basic networking experiments and encourage them to perform Computer Networking related projects. They are exposed to both Linux and Windows environments, Also various latest networking technologies evolved in the market are being introduced so that they will be well inform about the change that takes place around them.
